On 19 March 2003, the United States Military launched an all out attack and invasion of the sovereign nation of Iraq. Several thousand dead GIs, and hundreds of thousands of dead civilians later, America remains on Iraqi soil, occupying the country by force to this day. No matter what one believes about media IMPLIED connections between Iraq and so-called "terrorism", it is a fact that no President has the Constitutional power to declare any war, at any time. The Constitution of The United States of America reserves that power to Congress alone.

President Woodrow Wilson ASKED Congress for a declaration of war against Germany in April 1917. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt ASKED Congress for a declaration of war against the Empire of Japan on 8 December 1941, the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Congress passed a resolution in 1950, permitting President Harry S. Truman to campaign in Korea. President Lyndon Baines Johnson ASKED Congress to pass the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution in August 1964, prior to sending ground troops into Viet Nam. President George Herbert Walker Bush ASKED Congress for a declaration of war before initiating Operation Desert Storm in January 1991. The Constitution is very clear; ONLY Congress can commit The United States to war. Once a formal declaration of war has been adopted by Congress, the President’s job as Commander In Chief, is to prosecute that war to victory.

In Autumn 2002, Congress "passed" an act ceding war making powers to the office of the Presidency. What no one seems to understand is that without a Constitutional Amendment, Congress doesn't HAVE the power to do this. The Constitution clearly states that ANY law, act, or resolution which is anathema (in contradiction) to the Constitution is NULL AND VOID! If one takes the time to study a bit, it can be seen that the NULL AND VOID rule applies to well over 50% of ALL laws and acts passed by Congress in the last 100 years.

I have seen NO ONE in the media, be it print or electronic, questioning this unprecedented grab for power by the White House. I have seen NO ONE in the Supreme Court seeking answers to this Un-Constitutional crossing of the line between the separate branches of power. Where are all these elected representatives who have sworn on the Holy Bible “To Preserve, Protect, and Defend the Constitution of the United States”? Truth is, with very few exceptions, THEY DON'T EXIST! The vast majority of our erstwhile public servants take this oath, and proceed to spit on it from that point on. This applies to all levels, from the White House down to the cop on the street.

SINCE WHEN did patriotism, and love of country, boil down to blind and unquestioning OBEDIENCE TO GOVERNMENT? That philosophy is what landed the German, Italian, and Japanese, people in so much trouble seventy years ago.

A free people, in a free country, are duty bound to challenge illegal actions on the part of their elected public SERVANTS. Do WE The People own the Government, or does it own US? Do “They” serve US, or do we serve THEM? These are questions we should all be asking ourselves, and our elected representatives. After you've thought about what's happened to this country, especially since 9/11, mourn for the America we knew and for our loss of freedom and liberty.
